Ivrit @ 60

Another way to show your identification with Israel's celebrations is through speaking the language: Ivrit - Modern Hebrew.

The Education Department offers the following programs:

Virtual Ulpan

In conjunction with Israel's 60th birthday, we are launching a state-of-the-art Virtual Hebrew Ulpan, with live weekly sessions via web-conferencing with an Israeli teacher, and supported by an accompanying resource package (textbooks and a CD).
For information about registration and schedule, p
lease e-mail israel60@jafi.org

Café Ivrit

Launch a coffee-shop club that meets once every week or two and speaks only in Hebrew. The goal of this project is to encourage every Jew in the world to speak 60 minutes of Hebrew a month, in honor of Israel's 60th anniversary of Independence
The Israel @60 team will connect between different "Café Ivrit" clubs worldwide, via monthly Internet conferences.

If your local club is interested in such a connection please contact Eitan Eliram

The Jerusalem Examination

The Jerusalem Examination is prepared and administered by the Hebrew Language Division of the Department for Jewish Zionist Education at the Jewish Agency, in conjunction with the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, based on a curriculum covering classical, medieval, and modern Hebrew sources.

The Jerusalem Diploma, awarded to successful candidates, is recognized as a Hebrew Language entry certificate by all Israeli institutes of further education, and accredited as Intermediate Hebrew Language and Hebrew Literature courses by many universities around the world.

Ivrit for Early Childhood

What better time to learn Hebrew than early childhood - when children's language learning capacities are at their peak? "Chalav U'Dvash" creates an imaginative, interactive, staged learning environment and tools for Modern Hebrew with a focus on effective communication and language building. It has been enthusiastically acclaimed by Jewish education systems around the world.
