Moshe Vigdor has been the Director General of the Jewish Agency since January 2005 following a 12 year career as the Vice-President and Director General of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

As Director General of the Jewish Agency, Moshe is responsible for implementing the policies of the Board and Executive, all operations and administration, the multi-year operating plan, interdepartmental coordination and supervising  the senior management staff.

As Vice-President and Director General, Moshe was responsible for the Administration and Finance of the University, including physical development.  Moshe was the focal point for important decisions such as comprehensive land arrangements, founding of the University assets company, and the economical-innovative DBOT project establishing a 1500 room student village, as well as the daily operation and long-term planning.

Before assuming the senior professional leadership position at the Hebrew University, Moshe was CEO and Managing Director of Yissum Research Development Company of the University.   A wholly-owned subsidiary, Yissum was responsible for protecting the intellectual know-how of the university and for its commercialization in industry.  Moshe brought Yissum to a leading successful business, signing hundreds of licensing contracts with worldwide companies and bringing substantial revenues to the university through research funds and royalties.

Moshe has been a special consultant to the International Institute for Education Planning (IIEP/UNESCO) and has served as a lecturer for university staffs around the world.

Moshe obtained his degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from the Faculty of Technology at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev.  Early in his career, Moshe was the Operations Manager for one of the first science-based industries in Israel, a biotechnology joint venture of Yissum and Miles Laboratories, USA.  Moshe served on the boards of numerous companies and was among the initiators of the Technology Park adjacent to the Givat Ram campus.

Moshe is married to Magi, a special needs kindergarten teacher.  Magi and Moshe have three children and two grandchildren.
